Here is a link to a great time lapse video of a character by Irfan Celik using Max. It's a good video because it shows you the basic processes he uses to create his characters. You may not be able to create models as well as he does but it's nice to watch! ;)

mechaXB, those are called "Time Lapse" videos, 'cos you see the whole process at high speed and, obviously, with no sound. Could you imagine Alvin & The Chipmunks explaining you how to model a face? ;);) There are a few videos explaining all the process, at normal speed and sound. Check 3dbuzz.com
Good luck!

3DBuzz.com is about the best place to get training videos and help for a beginer. The videos on this site walk you through the different ways to access and use the tools available in a number of software packages.
Unfortunatly, as far as showing you how to 3d model something that is realistic is concerned, all anyone can do is show you how to use the toold, there are no videos on the proper way to do it. That is the point where it just boils down to your own level of artistry.

Good luck! ahhh.. now i get it. thank you :)
i've checked 3dbuzz.com but this week my study starts again so there is little time to work myself through the whole video tut things. i wanted to start with importing quake 3 arena models in 3DSmax put the 3 parts together and than create movement animation (let's say for example i want to make them dance or so). but i haven't found any hints yet how to do that. maybe you know some older sites about this content. i am sorry that my concern here must seem quite lowskilled but i just started.
thank you anyway for your help here. i really appreciate how people help out each other that fast and in this polite way.
greetings
