Saw this over on XSIbase. Good progress. Id consider looking at the cave troll from LOTR 1. Reminds me alot of that. Id conider taking abit of time to look into displacements as well as bump mapping. Also spend a little more time with the textures.
This is a pic of the cave troll with the displacements in place.

Hope that helps,
Dan.

Dan Wade: cave troll from LOTR 1 is an acquired maquette. full resolution has more than 1 million vertex, impossible to rig, skin and animate. in order to keep the same look, but lower resolution, at weta made a plug in able to calculate the differences between the normals of the models and store them in a high res image they used as displacement mapping. i think is a bit hard to reach this level of detail only with painting (i mean, you could spend days and days painting a 5000x5000 pixel map, but this could saturate your RAM!!!).
i think the model is ok, and bump mapping can be enough. is just my opinion...

Yea...sorry, i think ive been misunderstood. I was merely showing the troll for reference for texturing. I didn't mean to copy it. Its just that seeing the 'undead beast', the troll from LOTR1 was the first thing i thought of.
I know its impossible to replicate that sorta thing for animtion for us mere mortals. But we always have to look to better our work. U have to aim to do the best peice of work you can. U shouldn't sit down with yourself and say it carnt technicaly carnt be done, otherise whats the point even trying.
Just my two cents.
Dan.

hey a agree with both of you . i tryed a displacement map like that ,mean more polys and it took for ever to render, i am still going to make a diplace ment but maybe with less detail, but i think that is everyones goal is to always push the enovolope, and i do that now and i am never satisfyrd with my work, but i think is ok since it only my second texture ever:beer: but i well look into it dan thanks ;)

Just another thought. This guy is in pretty good shape for someone who is dead. There could be more deformation to the body as its decomposing, and because of all of the fights he would have been in. Heres a nice peice of work someone did on here to show you what i mean.

hey bRyaN2003 thanks i will be playing SWG as soon as i am done him hehe,
Dan Wade thanks for you advice , but i wasnt going for a zombie who got his ass kicked, my character is a really mytholocial character, called zahgurim, which is not raised from the dead but summoned to slay and kill buy a necro or warlock , i wanted him to look cold and dead kinda like my avatar from warcraft frozen throne but i wanted to put for a colder dead look , i tryed a more flesh tone color with and deep cuts but it looked to human like so i scraped it because he looked to human, thanks again  :)
