View Full Version : The Bomb
I've been blowing up a building using the bomb in 3DS Max, However, I can't get the mesh to bounce off the ground using any of the deflectors. I've tried all combinations of space warps and links and nonthing is working. Can any one help me.

deflectors are a pain in the ass. Try using a phisics engine like havok. It works great. altought for bombs it might be deflectors

I've tried using "the bomb" and apparently it does not work with deflectors for some reason. I spent three frustrating days trying everything and I could not get it to work... I suggest trying something like The Solid Snake mentioned. I have never tried Havok with explosion though...might work.

Heres how I would do it using standard max particles and deflectors:
PBounce-DBZ.zip (http://users.starpower.net/kamaelec/PBounce-DBZ.zip)
Just disect the .max file to figure out how I made it, it shouldn't be too complicated.
If you've got any questions about it, just ask.
Hope thats what you were after.

If you "blow up" the objects with PArray fragments, then yes they can react to gravity, wind, deflectors, etc. However if you use the Bomb space warp it's just going to distort the object and there's no physics involved. Bomb is quite outdated, though I admit I still use it to this day for VERY slight things in elements. Back in 1995 when MAX was first demoed the Bomb SW was pretty cool...times change though.

Thanks DivideByZero it worked out great.
