*Im currently looking for freelance opportunities in and around NYC*

If anyone has a critique of the film, I would love to hear it at any level. The film was fully created by me in all aspects technically and creatively except the narration and the music. The project began in May 2008 and finished in May 2009 at the School of Visual Arts. Please feel free to contact me about the film or with information about freelance jobs. Thanks everyone!

The look is great. The character animation isn't believeable. I felt nothing for the character.

Thanks for taking the time to watch my film, I'm very grateful. I was hoping to have more response and detail in your opinions on the aesthetics as well as the overall production quality. Any other perspectives or opinions would be great!

Very cool concept, and I loved the visual style. The story was lacking, but it was very interesting nonetheless.

Hey Ibeechu,

U wrote "Very cool concept, and I loved the visual style. The story was lacking, but it was very interesting nonetheless."

What was it about the story structure or narrative that was unsettling for you? I've received a lot of good feedback in terms of story, so I think it would be great to hear a little bit more from the opposite spectrum so I can really analyze my work and make a better short next time. If you could be so kind, I would appreciate your crit

Hey!!
Good work. A whole lot of work!! I really like your visual style. I can admit that the animation could be brushed up a little. A little too bumpy, up and down. I imagine a puppet to be more "flat" on moving downwards, not as much secondary motion. Im a bit pissed off though. Ill find another place to post shortfilms in the future. This place has become totally elitistic and boring. Wheres the spirit? Someone puts a year off work into something and the only answer he gets is yeah... fine....not good....good.... A team of professionals work on a piece at a studio and it gets 5 stars.. off cource, its freakin 10 people workin on it.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate you bringing that conversation to my post, It really is difficult. Granted there are a lot of people who will argue that its not about the team or the minds behind it, but its about the result in the end. But sometimes it does baffle me how such a technical and behind the scenes community does tend to look over the smaller projects. Im not really worried about my post not getting responses, it really doesn't bother me that much, although everyone likes a great critique!

I Know what you mean about the animation. Theres some pops and and some penetrations in there in so many places, Im sure the best eyes couldn't see them all. It was quite the challenge to animate the dynamic strings, and in the end, its all about the most valuable resource you have and for me that was time because i didnt have enough of it! Im glad you enjoyed it! I hope people view it from a story, idea, and creative vision.

I think it's interesting to see how many artists overlook those three components of a CG film because the technical aspects are flawed. The traditional animation world doesn't have this problem, and I would like to assume it's because when people draw, there are always flaws, and there is no perfect computer to calculate inverse kinematics.

Thanks for the post, I enjoyed reading it, and as always, I love critique

For a student film I think you've done a great job.

You've tried something with the animation, lighting, story telling, etc... That's exactly what you should be doing, trying stuff, learning.

I think you were pretty successful in the style, lighting, and the the narration was a nice touch.

That being said, it seemed like a lot of shots you started the character dropping in to the shot, which was a little distracting.

Also, there really wasn't a strong pay off in the end. You start setting up something about time travel, chasing his dream, etc.. etc.. But when it happens, it kinda just happens, does he go some where, what happens? We kinda miss that feeling that he succeeded, like the message finished. Does that make sense at all? This could be what the story / character lacking comments are about.

i like it! the narration was great, i liked the flow of the rhymes. your weight, and character animation was appropriate for a main character that is a puppet! and time travel is always an interesting story. two thumbs up man!

Now theres some good conversation goin on here, heh! I mean, to grasp the whole film thing including everything by just one person, It really is HARD!! Im really into creating films by myself too but it requires time and effort. Its a big challenge. A few years ago a film like this would blow everybodys minds away but I guess nowadays people is abit more spoiled with talents... Anyway you really did an incredible job doing this by yourself!! I decided to put my new short up on the board aswell. After all theres loads of experienced people that you would have to travel for months too see otherwise ;)
