Hi!

This is still an early WIP, as it still misses lots of detail.

Just remembered to try a quick Snap Image with the ref pic I am using and I'm posting the result just to share (haven't posted a pic for a loooooong time :P).

Here it is:

I hope you like it.

Comments are welcome

Best regards.

Thank you!

I've started it 2 month ago, but I just usually work on it for about 30 minutes and leave it for several days.

I've been doing a lot of tests with it, stepping back, trying different approaches, redoing some parts (I'm still a beginner trying to figure things out  )

In total I think I've been working on this model for about 5 hours, and still have a lot to go to consider it finished. :D

Never thought I'd say that about a fish, but it looks great.

Looks good.

I personally think the mesh is too dense in some areas like underneath, try dissolving a few rows of edges and see how the meshsmooth takes care of the curves using fewer points, eventually, you'll be able to predict that behavior.

Checkout for the 'pole' effect on the fin's corner, just a few connects should get rid of that seven-egded point.

Like the texture,

Keep it up.

Oops. forgot to say that I smoothed the mesh just for this test.

The actual mesh is like in this pic:

Whats the best approach? Get rid of all the potential point that can get "not so good" poligons in this stage of development or should I just do that tweaking the final mesh (or both)?

Like the textureThis is just a test using the Snap Image command.
I plan on creating the final texture myself, painting it, along with a bump map.
The final render will be done in PovRay, so I still have to do some research on how to get the best result (and still have to do my homework on PovRay materials and textures ;) )

The lowpoly mesh is fine, watchout for triangles under the mouth though.

On the side of the fin there's too many points on one edge causing the pole in the smoothed version, try adding a point or two to connect and restrict them with 4 points triangles. (http://www.newtek.com/products/lightwave/tutorials/modeling/4pointtriangles/index.html)

Thanks for the advice and the link :applause:

I will try to improve my model.
Still have some details and tweaks to make, so I might post an update soon.
