Hey all,

i posted this image in the cgarchitect challenge and redid a lot of stuff which you'll see when you compare the before and after...i welcome all c+c , but specifically need help with the greenery---i painted that in photoshop, but i'm not completely convinced, so i thought i'd post it in the 2d board in case anyone out there has some good tips, tricks, tutorials, or links....

thanks!

I can see 2 main things to crit:

1. The perspective seems a little off. It seems that your building is facing just a little more towards the camera than the rest. Ive taken the liberty of drawing a couple of lines on your work to illustrate - on yours, the side on the right should be subtly closer to the line than on the left, but it's subtly higher than the line.

I think that there should also be just a little, tiny bit of atmoshperic difference between the close, and far size, to push it just a bit into the distance.

2. The lighting, generally, is not intense enough. This relates to your greenery, but also to the sides of the buildings.

The sun is fully out, and would be shining down pretty hard on the front of this buiding. I think that your light source should be a bit stronger, and your shadows a bit darker, to reflect this.

You could also add more reflected light pooling on the ground in front of the building, as it has huge windows facing the midday sun, and would reflect a lot of light on the street.

As far as the greenery is concerned, more contrast, and fiddlyer little squiggles. give the impression of it being far more detailed than it really is by adding little hints of strong shadow throughout the bush, and stonger highlights spreading subtly across as well.
