How to create lighting effect like this.......

It's volumetric light. In 3dsmax you have to go in rendering > environement, in the atmosphere tabs select Add and choose Volume Light. Now you have some new options and one of them is pick a light. Just click on pick a light and click on the light you want to add volume.

You can do it really easily if you have access to After Effects and Trapcode's Shine Plugin.

Hi Max lover,

I think you can get some similar effect
in AFX with :

- no third part plug
- not even one graphic item imported in AFX
- just a single AFX file :)

This tip is based on the following features of AFX
(I'm personnaly talking about 4.1 version so guess with the 5.5
you might be able to go even further…) :

- masks
- filters : gradients and gaussian/radial blurs
- merging modes


I a few months ago created in AFX something like this
and now use this sequence with an alpha channel every time
I need something like this…
