Not sure what I've done... But here is the problem.

Firstly I am running Max 5.1

Now, for whatever reason, any new object I create cannot be rotated or translated. Scale still works like a champ though.

It's not as if the gizmo is off, both the transform gizmo and the rotation gizmo are fully visible and lit. I can pull any axis on them all I want and the object doesn't go anywhere.

This happens regardless of my creating a new scene, resetting the scene, or rebooting my computer. However, old object that I have created prior to this problem still rotate and translate fine.

It's as if I somehow have an option checked "lock newly created objects in place" or something to that degree. Problem is I have been hunting high and low to find an option such as this so that I can uncheck it... But no dice. I can't find something like that anywhere.

So, am I going crazy? Is my max FUBAR? Please help ASAP!

If no one knows the answer I might be required to call Discreet Tech Support to get to the bottom of this... or maybe reinstall ...

I am posting this because the answer might be of some benefit to anyone that reads it.

I finally found the answer to the problem: I had Float Reactor Controller set to default. Any newly created objects had Float Reactor Controller on them with no control point, which explains why they wouldn't go anywhere (translate or rotate). I finally discovered this by digging around in the dope sheet.

To fix I simply right clicked, picked Assign Controller, selected Bezier from the list and checked "Make Default"

Then deleted that object. From there any objects made had Bezier as default and translated/rotated just fine.

Hope this information will help someone avoid the headache I just went through!
