Hi

It's not actually that reasonable to dump an entire portfolio of finished work in a WIP forum and hope to get a critique / comment beyond "that's cool" or "I hate it". Some might suggest it's a tad narcissistic...Do you have a piece in particular you are working on that you would like feedback on? If so please post it and we'd be glad to help.

Cheers

D'Arcy

Excuse me, i forgot to precise i need constructive feedback.
I've been redirected to this subforum, maybe you know, a better place to show my portfolio, wich is work in progress.

As i specified i need general comments about the objectives mentioned above (children books, environment design...),
and don't feel to upload all the work again as it is quite time consuming.

If you are not able to comment without saying "i love it / I hate it"
please pass your way
thank you,
yaniv

Okaj... I have opinions... even about whole sites :p

Personally I really like your site design... nice colour scheme, nothing that screams at me... very calming atmosphere... quite nice!

However since we are talking portfolio and portfolio site here, I have also some things I don't like or would advise against.

first of all layouts... 3d and 2d are completely different in layout, which makes it rather confusing or in this specific case the 3d area is very full... which can be averted using the same subpage and 4 (3 in this case) button setup as in the 2d section.
On that same note, the book button in your 2d section opens a pdf, which is kinda a book and the button does what it says... but still I didn't expected it and, not being on very fast internet atm it took way to long to completely load. I am not waiting for that.

Which brings us nicely to the next thing, future employers want to see your work first, you later (I personally don't agree fully on that, I kinda like a short introduction on the index)
but that is not to say it isn't true that business people don't have much time surfing looking for the kind of work/ style they need. So think about that... put a picture on home, make sure the first thing you see draws you in, make text as little as possible for those who don't want it.

Finally I think you have some nice work, I also think that not all the pictures you show are your best work... which should be the case in a portfolio. People know this and expect this. So it is better to show 5 good pictures than 10 where those 5 are also present. Make sure to weed a little more, keeping only those that have a specific style and or high quality.

Finally, me being a 3dguy most of the time I would have like to see some more stills from the animations so I can deside quicker if I like your style and quality or not. :)

It is really a very good site and with only a little more cutting of exces material (make an old stuff page possibly if you want to keep it online, it is what I will do) it is a smooth portfolio site ready to be shown to everyone.

I hope this is what you had in mind

that's what I call an exhaustive and very helpfull answer

I agree that the 3d page have a different layout, and tried many different layout before, but couldn't find anything better, having a sub page is a good but heavy solution
probably i'll try to work more on it some days,

the book taking time to download is not the first critique of that kind and means something needs to be done urgently, I'm gonna sit on this very soon

I was thinking about replacing the worst works by newer ones... I'll try to cut off some works
from the sketch page which is a bit to big (not the first critique also)

thanks
