when i use spot light with volume fog behind any paint effect for eg a tree, i was expecting light rays coming out from the tree, but instead the whole scene turns black and white ,how to get the light rays coming out of a tree like a bright sun is behind the tree and the light rays pass through the tree.

hey!!:wavey:

not sure you can achieve this with paint effect trees, but thern if you can get the tres to cast shadows on the ground perhaps you can?

hmmmm, i'm sure someone will know more than me.

hang in there.

cheers!!

I remember i had that problem before using maya 4.0 back in the day. I made a whole forest out of paintfx trees, plants and grass ( A total killer for render time). Anyways I had to fake the lighting by appling a black and white checker grid on the color node of the spot light/ lights. It worked great, i wish i had a pic to show but i lost everything in the big computer crash of 2002.
