View Full Version : looking for rock texture maps

Hi there,
I am currently trying to build 'desert rocks' (you know, the beautiful dry red ones...) in 3D. Does anybody know where I could find some cool maps of rock formations ?
Or any tutorials/links for some procedural stuff ? My rough plan was to model the outline of the rocks and use displacement for the cracks and detail...

I am only just starting with this, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

cheers,

I usually believe in the 'power of google' myself, but in this case I just couldn't find anything really usefull under 'rock texture map' or the like...
Maybe I am just getting lazy indeed, I'll have another go with more specific search terms. It might also be a good excuse to plan a little field trip on location...

Thanks !
I think I might have found one or two that could work on the imageafter site. I'll let you guys know if I can come up with anything decent...

Thanks again

I have a site up with 170 free textures right now, hoping to grow it more within the coming weeks. Please let me know if it's helpful to you guys, and/or what I can do to make it more useful.
