This is my first time participating FXWARS challenge.
I started learning houdini couple of months back, I wanna try hard with houdini. May be if i get stuck in the middle, i may switch to maya-realflow...

hi shan ashish here well the first test lloks coool would love to see more dynamism aslo if possible replace the sphere with a clyinder that will be the lighthouse and the wave hitting it maybe the wave is a giant wave hiiting it like in the image on the challnge page but till now pretty immpresive i see u are using the quad core to the full

Here I updated my wip simulation with the provided lighthouse and added a piece of terrain. Presently working towards the shape of the wave and extending container boundries. Yet to do the secondary particles.
I enjoy doing it with houdini.

Let's see some renders!Im not in that stage yet, I think its too early to render, in the next update, ill playblast the meshed particles.

here my wip entry. I meshed the primary particles this time. Added some foam as well. Presently working on the secondary particles.
shortly, I will be uploading two other clips of the same simulation meshed and unmeshed in another camera

man its awesome! :) i think after hitting to lighthouse d way water goes i lik ...i cnt control myself 2 see sec. pass especially after hitting.
shanmug i think u shud open houdini authorize center ,how to learn houdini in 2months....hehe :P

The WIP looks good .. although if the wave had some more randomness it would look more realistic.. keep up the good work.

well looking good but still i feel it is not looking natural here is a link to some more wave fottage

the first part when there is a wall of wave it doesn't look proper the wave will have a bend at the tip the secondary wave need s a Little merging it is bit too abrupt near the o.2 to .3 sec mark also the re should be lot of foam from the wave which i sure u will put later on .one more thing vist some of the other compitors footage and give ur link of ur page thats what i did u will get a lot of direct crits form those guys was seeing some of the fottages of others they done some kick ass stuff too weel but things are going cool for u too ur fisrt full blown houdine work is coming out cool

nice work man. . i feel that the shape of the wave could have a curl . right now it is a little too straight. . there are images of a lighthouse and waves from hear my home town that is stuck in my head .. wish i could give a link :P
i really like the way it is reacting when it hits the rock . and the wave coming back .

The wave look's really good, hope you will definetly come up with some good render's of it, you got a really good hand on Houdini

Updated my wip version-4
Added secondary splash! after long time, still needs tweeking... extended the container space moderately.
Working towards increasing the height & amount of secondary splash, increasing amount of foam. Just started shading & render tests.

i think as per simulation concern primary foam simulation u changed lil bit ,bt secondary pass look still heavy ,i think it shud go upward more though it is hitting rock n i cnt see ne force in sec. pass.
one more thing i like 2 add is u shud spread it lil

Here is the sample rendered sequence, still wip. In this I rendered everything together in a single pass, so couldn't fix anything in comp. I just started the renders of separate passes, yet to start composite... (not much time left) lest see...

I too like realflow, but this output is 100% houdini. yesterday only I started to composite in shake (as im not yet familiar with houdini's compositing tools...)

Shanmug, keep up. After the render sample, the way the force of the wave is looking good.
You may give variations in the speed of the wave rather than a similar force in all areas. The secondary particles are good. May be add more force to go up to get the air breeze when it hits the tower.
Post it if you've more variations.
Good work... I like it what you have so far. But here are few things I would like to mention which can be improved more.
1. There isn't much white water you added. When wave crash with lighthouse/rocks, it generates white water spray and clouds. Water is very bluish after crash and no white water spray. Also scale looks off, right now it looks like lighthouse in swimming pool to me. Maybe you can try another camera angle.
2. Water behavior is very unexpected after it crashes to lighthouse. It behaves more glue type. I have attached the image that shows the portion of particles/water behaving more like glue.

nice like it the water shader is coming out cool the first half the few intial frame still needs work though some more foam and secondary effects good work

Here is my wip version-6. In this I added 2 waves; one already hit, still has lot of fixes. Theres lot of quality lose after I upload to youtube... tryin to provide a downloadable version...

good work but u could have submitted the final entry in a better angle with a bit of dynamic composition .u would have been a strong competitors for the award .Ur simulation is very nice very much physical accurate but the composition of the shot and the final qualty of render and comp work is not working especailly when u compare the other entrys
