I posted this on the Hardware/Software forum .. but I thought y'all should know about it, for those that don't frequent that forum.

I found this on the Yahoo News section.

"Microsoft Corp. acknowledged a critical vulnerability Wednesday in nearly all versions of its flagship Windows operating system software, the first such design flaw to affect its latest Windows Server 2003 software. Microsoft said the vulnerability could allow hackers to seize control of a victim's Windows computer over the Internet, stealing data, deleting files or eavesdropping on e-mails. The company urged customers to immediately apply a free software repairing patch available from Microsoft's Web site"

If you use IE, then click TOOLS > WINDOWS UPDATE to go to their site to get the updates.

uhm have you paid attention to OS updates for any OS, they are all the ame basic things, most of the small linux updates are security flaws that could allow backdoors. Basically most of these updates are only discovered once a hacker starts hacking using such a backdoor, they then make a fix for it. OSX has similar updates as well. Most OS's have an option to look for updates automatically, I get one from microstof on an almost weekly basis (mainly because microsoft's OS is a prime target for hackers) but Redhat has these types of updates on an almost daily basis.

yeah switching to apple isn't going to solve these issues either. plus alot of people say that apple is way to slow for 3d compared to intel pc stations. so just keep everything backed up. invest in cdrom burner instead of apple. please for the love of god don't invest in apple. just kiddin'

A security issue in Windows!? Whatever next.

You should be updating your OS regularly anyway, regardless of which logo it shows during bootup. This is no worse than any of the similar issues which are found every single week. My favorite of all time though has to be the one which shipped with the first copies of OSX which gave you root access from any account with just a few clicks :)
