Here is a model that I am returning to to hopefully finish it up for the reel. But I am having some problems with it. I am not sure what needs to be done with it, but please let me know. Its polymodeled in Max, but I did it from a box, vice spline, or edge extrude. I think that might be slowing me up now, But Let me know if you think textures will take care of the rest or keep rocking on the detail. Thanks in advance

well, i bet you can add a few more poly's for a little better shading, a few hundred more wouldnt kill the polycount.

i don't see why he'd put in more polys... nascar machines are virtually detail-less... all the stylings you see to differentiate from car to car is in the decals. even the headlights.

Thats true for the nascar - thinking I could just swap out the textures and walla new car - but just hoping that I was at that point. ;)

Ok...first things first...

The differences in bodies bewteen manufacturers are NOT DECALS...im tired of seeing this over and over again.

There are four manufacturers in nascar. Chevy, Pontiac (this model), Ford, and Dodge.

Everything i colored in red is different between the manfacturers physically. That is the nose of the car (including the contour lines on the hood that i didnt mark), the tail of the car, including the entire rear facia, rear windows (side and back) and rear decklid (trunk) and the spoiler.

Now, for help with the model...well..there are a few things wrong...

The wheel wells arent round enough...
The Left side air rail on the roof does continue onto the rear windshield.
You should model the Hoodpins and Pins on the rear decklid
Model a basic interior...not to much, but enough..One striking thinf is that you have a window in the driver side...the one thin you never see...
Windows need air-intakes that are used to cool driver and oil well
The lower rail extends almost the lemgth between the front aqnd rear wheels...exept for the..
Exause pipe..you need the exuast pipe
Need the fuel overflow on the rear of the car
Your fuel intake is a little wrong...it shouldnt stick back out like that in the middle...

Im not trying to be picky or demanding or anything, this is your model, i just spend alot of time around racing so i notice the details, just givng you some ideas...

If its not for a game, i would definately model as much as you can...and if you need help with the texturing...lemme know...

I added some work to the car - popped the front/side window out, and started on a interior. ;) Enlarged the tires, added the rear window track, and driver side intake, plus some exhaust. Looking to work on the Gas, rear end, and more interior later tonight...

The wheels look a bit off, if they are supposed to be normal nascar wheels. I might take another look at them

Here is just a small update, Had time to revisit it and adjust the window area's. redid gas cover, wind intake, etc and added a basic interior....

Basically i am still extremely [b]frustated[\b] with this model. Not sure if I should scrap and start another run, using the plane method, or just work with what is here?

is this off a reference pic or freehand? It's a nice model and all...but there is something that looks odd about it. I dunno what...maybe I just don't watch enough NASCAR racing.

and I think the fords are cooler :applause:

and doesnt the car have some deformities to suit its circular racing style...? like differences from the right side to the left side etc?
