Hi guys, welcome to the Wednesday Night Comic Creators Club thread.

The idea of this series of week long threads is to be an incubator for your sequential
art ideas. This mean you can post ANYTHING that will facilitate the creation of your comic. (This means ideas, scripts, Concept Art, Finished art ) for:

One panel Strip
Three to Four Panel Strips
Comic Book
Storyboards (NEW!)
Think of it of a club within the forum for people who WANT to do comics.

GENERAL RULES:

Every Wednesday night a new week long thread will be posted on the CGTalk Daily Sketch Forum (http://forumdisplay.php/?f=130) called:Wednesday Night Comic Creators Club XXX: MONTH YEAR

This will be the CORE thread, created by the moderator, (that would be me)

You can post on the core thread anything you want as long as it related a to a sequential art idea
If yo ualready have a web comic, well SHOW IT to us..
WIP entries should be on the artists WIP thread. This thread might be hosted on the WIP forum OR...the Member SKETCH Collection (http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=272)
This is a thread to allow creators to have fun so please feel free post your Comments
IF and only IF we gather enough interest we might start doing voting for:

Best Writing
Best Story
Best Art
Most Updates
Most Views (IE Highest ratings: I want to keep track on who has been getting the highest number of hits on the WIP thread for the comic...more on this later
Keep this in mind.
A monthly comic book has 24 pages. And in order to have enough material for a graphic novel you should need to do 6 issues of a comic.

24 * 6 = 144 pages

This is why most pros do a at least a page a day.

And please if you do comic book, do it in multiple of 2.
Wednesday Night Comic Creators Club 010: December 10 - 16 2008
Hi guys, welcome to the Wednesday Night Comic Creators Club thread.

My advice, KEEP IT SIMPLE

If you think you can't to a full comic book, do a 3 - 4 panel
newspaper strip. 5 - 10 updates a month are more than enough in my book.
And if you are going to do a comic book, do short stories first , since they usually have
4 to 6 pages. Think Twilight Zone, Tales from the Crypt or Amazing Stories for inspiration.
Good luck

This is a bit of a departure from my regular series for the sake of playful commentary, and at the request of a friend. Sorry it's kinda large, I started out too small with the panels and had to make up for it in image size to keep it clear. Probably hurt me that I tried a slightly more watercolor feel to it. The color wasn't quite what I was looking for, but I learned a few things at least.

alright sports fans, my buddy and i came up with a script and ideas for a comic. this was 7 years ago. Since then I've sketched a few pics. Nothing solid. I am so stuck! I try to develop the main guy Laz, and i draw blanks...ha no pun intended. I try to move on to another character of the story, but I'm still stuck. I read the script the other day, and I'm having new ideas this time around. I figured i'll post my sketches old and new. Not sure what there is to say about them, but i'm hoping to generate something from it for myself to get working on this. perhaps its fear or just lack of skill. i just dont know where to get started. a bit ovewhelming actually. i see a finished product in my head, but i just can't get there. let me know what you think. perhaps working method? anything...

Thanks Vic. ;) I promise, I'm not actually trying to get a rise out of anyone. If I did, I'd be putting up the political ones. The strip was actually based off of a joke I'd heard and adapted for comic purposes.

As for your work, I guess I'm not clear on what you're asking as far as assistance. You have a very promising style, which I'm sure you'd be able to hone with some time dedicated to making yourself practice. You've got an unusually detailed grasp of anatomy, which is going to help you a lot with poses. I guess for what you're aspiring to do, I'd almost wanna suggest that you consider simplifying down some of your detail work? Particularly if you have a sizable script. How many pages/columns are you thinking you'll need to tell the story? I think you'll be a lot less frustrated and more proficent from the get-go if you do a little minimizing on non-closeups. And maybe you intended to already, I know most people's concept art is heavier on the details than the full repedative product.

Red,

Unusual grasp on anatomy? I guess a usefull bit of info will be working habbits. For me just learning how other artist work gives me a peace of mind. If I hear how a few comic artist tackle a book, I'll be able to determine if I'm working towards a finished product efficiently. I don't know, I guess now that I'm starting to get back into the book I'm just getting scared away easy. So less detail and more concept? That makes sense. I guess if I'm stuck on a boot, I'll never lay any rough sketches of a given concept. I'm probably making it too difficult. I'm probably just making excuses to not go foward with it. As far as pages for the story, I was looking at about 4-5 books for the series. I want to start and end the story. I'll work on other story ideas I have after. Thanks redperil. I'll loosen up on my concept art to start. I just can't get a design for the main characters! Alright, I'm done for now. A whole essay later and no new art posted! Thanks again.

Mmmkay, so I've started working on this comic for my drawing class but since the school is almost over I guess I'll just continue drawing it. The title is 'Psychedelia' and I'm pretty much experimenting with weird color schemes being the main theme.
The story...I have no idea. For now the main character is getting ready to kick some ass, but I have no idea what the real cause is.
Any suggestion and/or critique is more than welcome. I will probably upload the second page tonight if I finish it.
