Hello,

This is my very first post in this part of the forum :)
I hope you will like the images that i'll post here.

First: (Dutch) Beer Glasses

http://picserver.student.utwente.nl/getpicture.php?id=206156
Modelled in 3dsmax, rendered with brazil.
In this scene I was going for realism, and I'm quite satisfied with te result. Though I hope that you could give advice how to make it even more realistic.

Second: 3D version of an Escher painting

http://picserver.student.utwente.nl/getpicture.php?id=206161
I really liked the original picture of M.C. Escher and decided to see if I could model it (and I succeeded, I think :) )

I would really appreciate some critiques.
edit: why aren't the [img] tags working properly ?

ok...thats an awesome rendering...you and brazil...;)...im a Maya user (now with mental...that makes you in fact almost go mental)...however...you want some critics....i would say rhe textures dont really feel like they are shaded in the same light...especially "palm". Its the geometry or something...
but thats a critic in searching for the wrong atoms...
GOOD JOB

Ziet er goed uit. De Escher is knap gedaan. Ga je hem nog texturen?
Post um ook even op www.3dhype.com, de nederlandsche cgtalk, zullen ze daar vast interresant vinden.

And after this short intermezzo, we'll get back to English ;)

Thanks for the comments :)
For the logo's on the glasses I created a b/w version of the logo's and used it on a blend material. I agree that it doesn't feel 100% natural.

About the 'Escher work' : I'm not going to texture it, because I like the clean feeling that it has now.

Nu weer even in het Nederlands :P
Ik heb geprobeerd lid te worden op 3dhype.com, maar ik kan nergens inloggen. Zodra dit gelukt is zal ik ze daar ook toevoegen.

Perhaps you should make the glasses a bit more reflective, because they blend in a lot with the reflective table. Or perhaps make the table material less reflective, more worn.

thanks for the comments, as soon as I have my new videocard (my gf2quadro died today, and I can't run max with an i740 :p ) I will change it a little.

about the [img] tag, I did it exactly as you described, but then it turns out as a link instead of a picture :hmm:

about the palm , you're absolutely right, it's belgian, but that doesn't make the beer less nice

Great artist, MC Escher.
Your image is very graphic, brings up well his own style. And the modeling is very crisp too. Thumbs up.

I'm sorry for my ignorance, but what exactly do you mean with this ?
That it's pure or not ment to be 'real' or something ?

Anyway, thanks for the compliments :)

Sorry if i haven't made myself clear.
I mean to say your image follows Escher's style of black and white.

I tweaked some things in the scene and here's the result :
http://picserver.student.utwente.nl/getpicture.php?id=212642
Some scratches were added on the table, the lightning and the reflections were tweaked.
I hope you like it :)

edit: the [img] tag is still not working correctly
