View Full Version : Grouped objects --> to solid object
Ben Woodward 05-08-2002, 01:58 PM I have grouped loft surfaces, can I make the whole lot convert to a solid object so the isoparms go all the way around the object?
Thanks.
Ben.

if all surfaces are nurbs you could try a global stitch in case all your surfaces are parameterized properly and the facing edges aligned well
or try using the Stitch Edges tool - anyway that all depends on the model at hand - maybe you post a reference for clearing this up

Ok, so the outer edge is three lofted splines, the top and bottom are planar surfaces, what I wanted to do is split it crossways so I model half then mirror, I want to model it accurately but as low data a pos. Should I just boolean chop the thing in half and then delete history?
If you look in the picture the isoparms in the loft and the iso's on the planar are not connected, they are just children of a grouped object. Is there an operation the converts the grouped things in one editable object?

if you want it as one surface, maybe you would be best to draw the profile curve of the shape you want and revolve it into a circle.
then grab half the cvs and pull them out. (or just before half, so you leave an isoparm in the center.... then you can scale that one inwards to remove the bow it will inevitably create)
shouldnt take more than 10mins

Ok, thanks, very helpful. I created the 'deck' for my skateboard by rotating a cv curve that defines the outline of the deck, squashing it flat and then selecting an isoparm in the middle to detach and halve it.
