Maya 5.0 fundamentals is coming out in september.
I've only seen one 5.0 book. and that was something like "Learning Maya 5.0" which is a A|W book.

Inside Maya 5.0 will be available in a couple of days.

Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0735712530/steadicenter/)

I believe it's aimed at the intermediate user. Can't wait to get my hands on it...;)

Boris3D (http://www.boris3d.de/tutorials.html)

if you head over there for all your maya needs, you'll also find a vast collection of books relating to Maya and general 3D.

Gnomon (http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/title.shtml)

Here you'll find an outstanding amount of DVD titles all relating to Maya and its tools. Over 40 titles with 100min approx. each. You heard right this offer is a limited time only...and if you act now i'll let YOU buy ME one. pretty please. :wavey:

Also Maya 5 doesn't have to be what your looking for. You could buy books that have nothing to do with Maya and learn more from that, than from something actually for Maya.

eg. Digital Lighting and Texturing. Will teach you everything you need to know. etc.

AliasWavefront (http://store.aliaswavefront.com/dr/v2/ec_MAIN.Entry16?SP=10024&PN=29&xid=41107&V1=11029516&V2=11029516&V3=1&V5=11000161&V4=10&S1=&S2=&S3=&S4=&S5=&DSP=0&CUR=840&PGRP=0&CACHE_ID=0)

The makers of A|W Maya, such a fine program. There are movie titles here from the big names in the industry so you can't go wrong (unless its all a conspiracy to fool us all). Unfortunately they're a bit rich for my blood. Price-wise.

Anway that's where i'd go shopping apart from the obvious mentioned. Amazon...God bless them. And the good 'ol bookstore.

happy learning.
