CGTalk - Study /learing 3d

Hi,

i am really interested in 3d visualisation. In my free time i work a lot with Cinema 4d, and i experiment a lot. My school time comes now to the end and i have to choose what to study and where. I would love to learn much more about art in general and especially about 3d. I like still images much more, but i am also willing to learn more about animation (have not done anything in that direction till today...). So i wanted to ask what and where did you study? It would be really cool if i could work in some studio (like pixar or massive black or gamedesign like working for blizzard or so) and work there. Do you have any tipps? I am willing to go anywhere in the world and go there to the university to study.

I really have no idea what i could study. Art in general is i think not to good, because i am a quite bad "painter" from hand (have not much practise).

Personally, I'd suggest doing an Arts degree or something similar. I did a Multimedia Design degree and it wasn't really worth it since they were focusing too much on the software and not enough on the technique/foundation. You can always learn how to use software from training DVDs and online tutorials, but learning an art background is a lot tougher. It took me a few years to realize this, and am now paying for the lack of artistic skill by having to spend a lot of time catching up. As far as which school and where, I'm not sure, but the question has been asked several times so just read up on other threads.

Hi Sebastian.
A study will generally give you a broad introduction which will cover many areas. It will also provide you with valuable contacts. However once you decide on a particular area only a few dedicated courses will give you all the info you need. Mostly you will always have to engage in self study. The web is a wide world of learning.
