View Full Version : Figure Studies (Nudity)

I have been doing some life drawing at a workshop, and since there isn't an instructor there, I was hoping to get some general crits on what I could improve in the future. These are probably the four best ones that I have. They are all about 30 minute poses, vine charcol at about 18x24. Eventually I would like to have some images that are good enough for a portfolio to waive a figure study class. (Sounds weird, but, yeah).

Well your light's are great and the poses are good.
But if you had time to fill the body with gray scale collors then why didn't you give attention to the head, hands and feet?
I think your 2nd image is the best, good pose, nice lights.
Then what you could improve is finishing the hands head and feet. The first image has a hip that could be improve. This wasn't your first model drawing or is it?
If so I think it is really awsome. I didn't see your profile yet but are you in a school of art? or already working. well I check your profile after clicking the submit button.

Thanks for the reply. My favorite one is the second one, also. I think it is the most developed.
Hands and feet are hard, and so are heads :D You're right, though. My next session I am going to spend more time on those details.
Right now I am attending a regular University, but next year I'm transferring to an Art School.

Hey, if anyone else has some figure study drawings lying around, feel free to post them here. I would be interested to see some other examples from people on this forum. Yeah, I know it is kind of boring, but it is also an important foundation, I think.
Amyway, here's another one. I rather like it, but I think the face is kind of screwed up.
