View Full Version : Adding detail
dfaris 07-16-2003, 06:42 AM Noob question.
I'm wondering if somebody can tell me the best way to add detail to a model?
Here is a picture I have added red lines to show where I would like to add detail.
Thanks Dave

select the edges of that loop, and choose edge cut, set it to have 2 cuts and then to not keep the current selection (that will make it select the edges that have been cut).

As I see u use triangles besides quadriangles, no problem this way. Selet an edge ring (manually or by Selection>egde ring)and use edge cut from the structure menu.

Thanks guy for the help I will give it a try today.
DELTAadmin I will try your tip but not on this model
because there are no triangles in. I'm not sure wher you see
them but if there are then its my bad because there shouldn't be.
Thanks again

Gopt a different method for doing that but yours is cool sadie.
I use normally the cutter plugin for this a great tool.
not forget to metion Samirs DeepCutLiner with to most control over the cut.
DeepCutLiner is not Freeware - Cutter is.

I don't see Cutter anywhere anymore. Is it not supported for version 8? I tried loading in 8 and my curser wigs out and nothing happens.

There's no reason to use Cutter in R8, since the native Edge Cut tool does exactly the same thing (but better).

I don't agree Adam, edge cut doesn't turn around corners in a correct way, cutter does, i still use it sometimes.
