Hmmm... I don't know of any painting tutorials in video format. I wanted to make some a while back, but the software for making timelapse videos slows down my computer so much that working becomes irritating.

However, there isn't really anything to "work out", it's really just a matter of understanding how texturing works (how the different attributes work - colour, spec, bump, reflection, etc), and then just... painting

There are no real tricks or secrets to it, you just paint it the way you want it.

There were some video painting tutorials made recently, and posted somewhere on polycount. Do a search in the forums.

I would post this in the Focused Critiques forum, you're more likely to get solid feedback there.

dont send the boy into the lions den with a steak stapled to his forehead! ;)

practice more buddy. Im no great texturing artist myself, but I would suggest developing your craft a bit more before subjecting yourself to the focused critiques forum.
heh. that's what im doing. practice practice practice.
When ya cant think of what else to do, then ask for guidance.
For talentless hacks like me that comes sooner rather than later. ;)

DADDYGOODY, it might help you to look at this tutorial. I think your texture could use a good dose of color subtlety.

Yeah thats cool but I only saw one students gallery that was textured and it is not really all that great.

well it is a student gallery after all.
If you are looking for some magic tutorial that will make you a good texturer you are gonna be looking around for a long time.
Tutorials can teach you the process, but ya still gotta practice your butt off to get good at anything ya want to do.
The thing to ask youself is this:
assuming that everyone who joined Larry's course started out at the same level as you are at right now.. compare the student work to your own work and ask yourself if you think they learned anything from the tutorials.
I would say the learned alot.
But, like I said.. it is the practice that will make you good at texturing and modeling.. not the tutorials.
As yet they don't have a "talent in a can" that you can just buy off the shelf. Ya gotta work on it.
