View Full Version : Legs are on backwards! >_<!!

So I've run across a bit of a problem with this rig I just made. It's really my first of any appreciable level of complexity in Maya and everything is working just great EXCEPT for my character's legs; the IK chain is pivoting her knee around such that it turns backwards or sideways, even with a pole vector on the IK chain for the ankle. You can download the MB file at www.lostsystem.com/legproblem.zip to see what I mean; one is smooth bound and in the middle of weight painting and the other isn't bound at all. Only the left leg has a pole vector on it. I thought I oriented the joints for everything properly, but could I have missed something? Maybe I did it backwards for the legs? I can't figure out for the life of me what I did to make the IK do this, and it's really irritating. Any help would be very greatly appreciated.

Figured out the problem.

Turned out I DID orient the leg joints wrong. I had Y pointing down the legs when I needed X pointing down the legs.
