View Full Version : max's character studio in cinema
does anyone know of a way to do the animation found in 3d studiomax's character studio. what i mean in particular is that you can setup foot prints on a virtual plane and have the character automatically walk with strides of jump, run, or walk. and you can move each foot step to adjust the characters animation, not the character itself. much easier for basic walk cycles and setting up the foot work of a character's animation.

I believe the only way to do that in Cinema is by the way of Expresso.

not really what you want but might help you get your head around the flow part on animating footsteps...plus speed your workflow.

what would be so bad about the ability to
generate basic generic walk cycles
that you then go into your dope sheet and graph editor
and add head bobbing, offset the arm swing
hip swing and conversational hand, arm gestures etc.
Life forms 3.9 has a "walk generator"
that lets you define stride, step length
and distance in feet/meters for your imported rigs
if you are bidding on some architechtural walkthroughs
or forensic re- creations involving mutiple humanoids
easliy generated walks are a $$valuable$$ asset trust me.
I see them as "primatives"
why should i spline model a shere???
if my app will load a basic one for me and leave to me to
make it look like a space station or whatever:shrug:
