Hi,

i saw this announcement in the Indigo forum:

---
Indigo is going commercial; Indigo 2.0

The first experiments with what came to be called Indigo started back in 2004. The name Indigo was given to the raytracer in 2006.
And now, in 2009, Indigo is all grown up, and is going commercial as version 2.0.

To reward early commercial adopters, we are offering half price licences for a limited time. Also, the first one hundred licences sold will not only be half price, but come with free lifetime upgrades to Indigo 3, 4, and beyond.

Indigo has always had an active and vibrant community of coders, artists, and experimenters. I appreciate all the discussion, ideas and suggestions from the community members, and hope that they will stay around even when Indigo is a commercial product.

We also understand that the exporters are a crucial part of the workflow and overall Indigo experience. We will be working with the exporter authors to make sure that high quality exporters are available for all supported 3D modellers.

You can download a free evaluation version of Indigo 2.0 from the Beta forum, here:

If you like it, you can purchase a half price, lifetime licence at the Glare Technologies Store:

Nicholas Chapman

while that's a nice interior, i've definitely seen better, and it took 210 hours to render.

I assumed th "WOW" was for the 210 hours :surprised that took to render that scene... not for the final image.
Its a nice interior but not one of the best I have seen.

I have never tried Indigo before so I cant really comment on it, best of luck to the development team anyway :) .

:D.

Wow was for both.

Wanna know the computing time? Only 210 hours, now and then.
I thought my mother was going to kill me, or crash the quad..

And I haven't seen such a nice image made by "pros" still living with his mom...

well the kitchen image is not very convincing, for 210 hours.
it can be done with pretty much every renderer, including mr.

reminds me of arnold, 10 years ago.

MR is not every renderer.
The guy who made it is not very experienced, and probably very young as well, so that's why I think it's quite good.
Even if it is done with arnold 10 years ago, it's still nice image.
I don't see the point of your argument at all, except arrogance...

Why spend money on a renderer that produces equal or inferior results in more time?

I hate to speak for people, but I would wager a guess that was his point.

MR ships for free with every big package. Indigo doesn't seem to offer anything that isn't already available better and built in.
