View Full Version : Speeding up a fluid simulation?

Hello,

I have a dynamic fluid sim of a flame that's attached to a moving object.

The flame is looking good - what we need to do is to speed the entire simulation up. Is there a simple way to control the speed which the clock runs in the fluid container, or would you have to go in and adjust things on a attribute by attribute basis?

I'd rather avoid the second choice as that could change the behavior and look of the flame in other ways.

Thank you for you help.

Simulate extra frames & cache & retime it.. It will give u more better control!
or if u runing out of animation frames then I wuld oversample it by 4 & then increase the sim scale so as to get speedy animation on the flames! but u might need to balance the emission rate.
Hope it helps!

Hello,

Thank you for the response. I have one question - will simming extra frames work if the whole fluid container is itself moving? It's attached to an animated object. Does that not make a difference, or will simming extra frames and retiming lead to the container no longer moving with the larger object?

Thanks again.

In tht case I wuld oversample it & try increasing the sim scale like I said earlier!!

As far as I remember...caching and retiming the fluid shouldn't be affected by the translations of the container, unless you have an animated emitter within the container or collision objects interacting. You are only caching the dynamic properties of the container.
