just started with maya live, and I'm about to go shoot some footage and try to matchmove it. Before I do, I just have some questions.

First of all, in the instant maya tutorial, it said that once you have your scene matchmoved and objects in it, you can composite the scene within maya, but first you have to turn "use cache" off.

Well, I tried this, but as soon as I turned off use cache, the footage (sequence of images) on the background plate just stayed at frame one, and didn;'t move. Even when I scrubbed to a later frame and rendered, the footage was still on frame one.

Anyone know why? And what is the advantage of turning off use cache anyway?

Please help! This is getting Really Annoying!

One last question: is there any way to import raw video into the bg plate in maya live instead of having to convert it to a sequence of images?

Thanks for all your help, hopefully someone out there knows an answer to one of my questions

Just an idea about the compositing issue:

I have no idea why the clip would remain on frame 1. Instead of compositing in Maya, use something like After Effects or Combustion. (I'm assuming that if you have a copy of Maya Unlimited you also have some sort of compositing software)

This will give you more control over color correction while decreasing render times.

PS: I would also be interested in an online resource for using Live.

yeah, thats what i'm going to have to do.

origionally i thought it would be easier on the workflow to do the compositing directly within maya, but what a headache!
