CGTalk - Max keeps freezing!

For some odd reason, 3dmax started freezing for no reason today. I just go on 3dmax work on my model, after 2 minutes it stops responding. So I close 3dmax, open it back up and same thing happens again when im doing the littliest of tasks. Someone help! It has nothing to do with my comp hardware and im running xp.

Do you have norton antivirus running? If so, check to make sure WINLOGIN is not hogging your cpu.

When is the last time you rebooted your pc?

have you been saving your scene file w/ an iterative naming convention and tried running an earlier version?
