We are contemplating getting Vue xStream 7.0 (7.5) and were wondering if anyone was using FumeFX and Vue together?

Thanks,
David

Yes. But I still use Vue 6 xStream. I havent been able to render anything out of them as a single pass because the smoke turns out as a gray opaque blob. Even with no lights selected ( as I thoght it may have been the high intensity of the sun), and the color changed to flat black it is still a gray opaque mass. I havent been able to get Afteburn to work with it either although I have to admit that I tried less with Afterburn than with Fume.

I have been having to split my scene into four or five Max files, one for the animation, one for the environment, one for Fume, one for PFlow, etc.

So if you want a quick workflow I would prepare yourself now, unless I have an isolated problem. But I tend to think it is more with Fume than Vue, but I could be wrong.

Evan,

I found Ozone (which I believe is the same as in Vue) doesnt like gradients when used for opacity.

They seem illuminate the opacity.

Thanks,
David

What is your order in the Environment Effects dialog? Remember this is a layer based system, if you switch the order does it work better? I remember a long time ago someone was having a similar situation with Aura and DS. Solution was to reorder the effects, from the Max Help file:Shows the queue of effects that were added. The effects are evaluated in linear order within the scene during rendering.-Eric

That could be the solution for the Afterburn problem, but FumeFX is not a render effect so I am not sure how that would help the problem there. Thank you though.

What about adding the Fusion Works Effect and reordering it?

Possible, when I get a minute I will give it try and let you know. If that works, than you will have effectively helped me solve a project stopping roadblock. And to think, the pixelmonkey solves the TD's technical problem... goes to show you that monkeys are pretty smart... :) (That was a joke by the way)
