Futuristic monkey love!!! RIGHT ON!!! You nailed the longing caress of the bottom left monkey.. and that mask is so he can smell his own farts, right?!?!? (Where do you come up with this stuff?!?!?)

Wicked stuff Blackarts. Although you should veer away from romance novel covers.... even if it is about the love between a man and his monkey.

You're an inspiration to anyone doing 2D. And yes, that includes me. Once I get a tablet, I'm going to pester you as much as humanly possible about how you do the godly works you do. Until then, I will prowl your gallery and drool at the amazing talent you have.

(looks at site) and you worked on Def Jam Vendetta? Bless you! You should be a saint! The only thing I could ask of you now is for a concept pic of Steel so I can make a wallpaper of him. =P

Max; lol this is ripe for a spanking the monkey joke, but I'll restrain myself.

RavenX; a diehard Vendetta fan? holy crap!

I updated the image - added a bit of shadow here and there and tried to tighten a few things up. This also acts as a shameless bump since this thread slid wayyyyy down into oblivion in a matter of hours. The curse of the popular forum. =)

Is it just me, or does the head look small and mis-proportionate to the rest of the body? Other than that, I think it looks really great.

It does, but it makes him look more powerful and almost regal!

This is a really cool image.
I love the textures.
What program did you paint this in?
About how long did you spend on this image?
:applause:

great job. It reminds me a bit of Simon Bisley, he sorta paints the same way.

Rey; I used Painter 7 for this. I know 8 is out, but there are some interface things I don't like about it, so for now I'm sticking with 7. I spent about a week of spare time on it, off and on...so it would roughly translate into about 2 days of full-time work.

Cod; his proportions are definatley exagerrated...perhaps too much? I guess it's a subjective call. I did play around with other head sizes..but that's the one that stuck. go figure.

thanks for the feedback!

I'm so impressed by your work.
Really inspiring.

I'm a painter newbie. Just bought version 8 last week. Trying out all the tools to get a feel for what works.

I've read that you use the Smeary Round and Round Camel hair brushes for most of your work in painter 7. Are you using those with oil? Or a different medium?

Aso, what paper settings do usually start with?

Cool, great colour scheme... nice character. I like his weapon, looks like it could flare up / glow or something. . . . I like your style in painter, would be cool to see a wraith or something undead with blacks / purples * throws out ideas for your next one lol
