Hi, I have a drawing that needs a reptile texture of varying sizes etc. and I am not sure what method would be best.

Should I just "Clone" an image of reptile skin over my drawing or use a custom brush? What method works best from your experience and are there tricks to making this look really good?

Thanks :)

Try google and type in free reptile skin brush for photoshop. I know I've seen one somewhere.

in a pinch, the ArchViz libraries of Max have some roof tile textures named "Thermal & Moisture.Shingles.Halfround.jpg" that look like scales. they have a bump map and a diffuse map. Properly tiled, they look very scale-like.

You should concider getting Alien Skin's Eye Candy 5 Textures plug-in. I've found it very useful for generating textures (especially seamless tiling ones) and reptile skin is one of the classes of textures.
