CGTalk - my first model

ok yeah i suck...well ive been doing cg for only a week now and this is my first model...i made this day b4 yesterday...it took me 10 hours to do :P

well i didn't use any references or images so anyways 'cos of inexperience i ended up changing courses every now and then first i thot i'd model a head resembling darth maul from star wars...but then i had images of thundercats in my head and then some reptile creatures from V the final battle floating in my mind for some weird reason...hence the wierd eyes....and in the end i modelled a fat nose for it....anyways...this took me 10 hours to do :P....how long does something like this take u more seasoned artists? also hmm...i don't want heavy criticism at this point...i really don't know jack about modelling yet...juss wondering where i stand tho *shrugs*

Not bad for a starter (you are going to give him a mouth, right?). I've been doing 3D for close to a year and I wasn't really satisfied and comfortable with my modelling skills until now. Keep modelling different stuff, and the more you model, then better you'll get at it. There's tons of tutorials in books and online too. Keep it up.:thumbsup:

thanx hopper...yeah well i'm modelling the eyes and mouth rite now and changing his face structure....i havne't read any character tutorials yet..so i'm doing that and well studying the body parts from pics etc.....and i'll see if this dude gets any better i'll make the full model.....this is fun stuff :D...i've juss been into it this last week and i'm totally hooked like totally...maybe its 'cos i started when i was really high :P....lol...i hope i learn from the ppl here....i've really seen some amazing work on this forum....really opened up the screws in my brain....now i realise why everyone here is so possessed ;)
