lol, cool, i had a similar idea when i first saw it.
It reminds me of Luxor (i think thats the name) from Pixar.
The little animated lamp.

Nice model. A little too much ambient light I think.

Very nice. When can we see a test animation?

-----

Get this, I talked to a person the other day who wanted a MAC laptop because when you put it into sleep mode the light would fade in and out like it was breathing. That was the only reason they wanted one.

I like it. Think the lighting could help with realism.

I love macs too but Im not a big fan of this new design.

Im guessing that the imac commercials will be a copy of luxo jr, since Steve Jobs is the CEO of both apple and pixar. Its also rumoured that the great John L will be directing the new ad campaign.

Does someone talk about Luxo Jr. and the New iMac ?!??!

Hey Steve here I am ... dont call this guy John L. hes too busy with Finding Nemo movie.

:)

Ok, it was comic guys that you began to talk about luxo jr. because Im doing a 30 seconds short for my school of animation here in Buenos Aires. Ill have it finished by next week.-

But here there are some images for you to critic.

Thanks.

Hi! The wood floor is the same that is in the short made by Pixar Luxo Jr. (wich is the lamp).

Thats why I choose the floor and the black background.

Thanks for your comments.

very good. the model is like the original.

cool stuff! :) nice iMac! got the feel of the wood floor as well. luxo jr. needs some surfacing attention though, looks very flat. also is it off-model? would have to compare. feel of the plastic on the imac isn't quite as nice as the other surfs, too. something strange on the shadowing as well? hard to say.

Anyway, cool beans..hope they do something crazy in the animation :D

P.S. if you really want to go the extra mile, give luxo jr. a cord..no one ever adds the cords when they do spoofs ;)

Nice work!
Only thing is that i hate that mac, it's just so ugly.
I also agree with the wood texture, white would be better.
Keep it up.

heheheh are you going to include in the animation a scene of the iMac crashing? Or not doing what the user wants? Because that's all that macs do....
Heheheheh I love Hexodam's idea :p

Nice pics :) Looking forward to seeing the animation :bounce:

Yes, and how much is an Octane these days?

I'd recommend Linux more but for the distinct lack of photoshop and the reportedly iffish tablet support.

Additional. Sorry, must seem quite rude but with all the server maintenance things that kept popping up I thought I was back in hardware discussion

Anywhos, methinks the plastic surround of the screen needs a higher IOR and are you gonna add a cable to the little lamp?

I hate Mac and i'll always hate Mac.. mac is full of shi*
almost 90% of the population hates Mac and Mac is no good...
the only thing you can do with a mac is having a hard time trying to make it work

I'm always amazed how much emotion people have over a computer. If they're talking about their own computer they complain. If their talking about someone elses computer it's crap and theirs is better. Get over it.

I use both Mac and Windows at home and can do anything I want on either. Lightwave works just the same on either. Photoshop works just the same on either. I've got MS office for both OS X and Windows, and actually I like MS office for Mac better. Go figure.

Anyway, I've yet to find anything I can do on one computer and not another (operating system wise).

I never have a problem with OS X crashing though.

Settle down people. Can't we all just get along? (Or at least gang up on the Linux people)

Hey, watch it! Just 'cause my system never crashes and fails to bug the hell out of me with a million and one interface 'enhancements' :p

Hey, can you animate the screen on the little 'puter? Use as a way of communicating with the screen tinting different colours and such.

it's going to flame a new mac/pc war!!
anyway, forget about mac vs. pc & stick with the main subject:
this new iMac...
it seems nobody here has seen the commerical that PIXAR
has made for this iMac! :) haha...it's very nice & reminds Luxo jr. too.
i don't know the link of that commercial ad. but i have it! maybe
in apple.com u can find it.

Here's a little animation I did a few months ago.

The modeling is primitive. (so is the animation :) )
