My simple idea is back firing and I would appreciate a swift kick into the right direction...

I try to 'scan' the distance of an animated point and a surface it is traversing over.
I attached a sample but the distance node does not quite do the trick. It nicely measures the distance of the two objects I have but I am at a loss how I can isolate a vertex and the surface... A rough idea is enough to get me started on the right track... Do I have to go and get a cup of Coffeeeee or do I have to get bitten by the Python?
Cheers

Just use a point node.
Feed the point node with a point object and chose a point number.
The point node has and an ouput port for the global point position.

Raycolision..... That's the key to the solution....

Now I have to find a way to output my positions to an external file.... sighhh it never ends lol
