I've just completed modelling a pigeon for a project i'm working on.
I need to animate it taking off, flying around and landing. I've got the wing motion for flight down ok, but i'm having the most trouble with the folding/unfolding of the wings. anyone have any tips on how to do wings folding/unfolding?

Thanks in advance of any help.

Hi there, this might help

Set up a slider called Wings Open Close.. or something..

In the wings closed position..

link the bones of the wings to the slider.

Slider at value 0 then Set the relative value of the bones.

then open the wings right out, move the slider to 1 and then set the relative values again.

You should find now that when you move the slider, the wings will open and close... this slider can also be animatied..

Hope that helps you out..

How are you animating the feathers? Individual bones?, Morph targets, clip maps, etc?

I have had trouble trying to get feathers to work properly when I need a wing to open or close. Maybe you could post a screen shot if you don't mind?

Hi TDi,

Sorry, but the thing that I made didn't have feathers on it.

I haven't really got any suggestions for fixing your problem, but If I come across a solution, I'll get back to you..
