View Full Version : Project a texture through a surface?
Lomax 07-14-2003, 02:26 AM I'm not sure if this is possible:
Suppose you have a fully textured polygon character, but you find a more efficient way of laying out the UVs. Would there be any way for Maya to bake the texture to the new UVs, to achieve the same look without repainting?

if you project the texture via a projection node...you can bake the texture which will distort to the UVs....be warned that this method has 1 flaw which u can fix easily enough. When u project a texture...it goes through the surface and lands on the other half of it as well. you dont want to bake it at this stage....
the soloution is to project ramp node perpendicular to the texture projection. This ramp node should hook up to transparency of the projection and then with just black and white in the ramp u can control where the seam of the mask is.
