View Full Version : head modeling question .. ( tiny questoin :))
i've modeled a head.. but i noticed from this tutorial i saw.. that after the artist modeled his head .. he then said he remodeled this character into a laughing/smiling expression and continue to add more detail to the mesh laugh lines, rinkles around the eyes that kind of thing.. i was wondering do i have to remodel the head model into that position myself or is there a way to do it that i just dont know of?
hope you understand what i mean ..
thx :P

hey
You dont have to remodel your charater, you only remodel if you are planing on using the morph shape modifyer(thats what i think its call anyway)alternativly you could rig the head with bones.
I think...
anyway hope i helped.
i do understand what your saying but im still a bit unclear on the question i asked.. i added an image to better ullustrate what i mean .. im guessing ur saying the face must be rigged to move it into a position like this .. but here is the image anyways.. sorry for the poor quality..

Yeah if you want to animate it,or you could ground verts with clusters and move the clusters on you character to get a certain pose...
i think
its late
for the best results u have to remodeling the face for each expression
info: Bay Raitt modeled 675 expressions for Gollum :)

yeh but he didn't model them from scratch! he just edited the original really well.
To do blendshape you only have to duplicate your original mesh and edit the face to suit the expression your after, you can add detail but then you have to take off check topology in the option box for blendshapes.
he did this in mirai cause the good magnet tools i didnt say that he model each blendshape new :) you can use all tools for the deformaton - cluster or lattice deformer are great for deformation or the ClayDough Magnets (or use wings3d)
