I do not want to disrespect these producers but I say no. Now the reason I say no is because its not at the level of animation of someone like Milt Kahl.

its definitely animation though

I actually produced it by myself. I plan to get other people to animate for me when I get it on TV. Hopefully then you will like the animation some more. Thanks for watching, and most of all thanks for the honesty.

I actually enjoyed these quite a lot. Some good subtle humour in them. Now from an animation perspective, no, these arent good, but it didnt stop me enjoying them really. Be interesting to see what you could do with a budget.

I think your thread topic could be misleading.

'is this good animation?'

- what do we think of the animated series as a whole?

or

- do you want to know what we think of your animation skill?

I love the series, well done...I started watching the first one and ended up watching all of them. I think the animation style fits perfectly with the series, but it obviously is a different style compared to feature film quality animation.

keep it up!

I certainly thought it was south park/family guy level animation which is obviously sufficient for what your trying to do here. Perhaps its even more suitable for this style. I know nothing about animation. All I know is if no one told me otherwise I could totally believe that's a commercial TV show.

I definitely agree with the last few posts...obviously if you compare this to amazing artists such as Kahl or Avery or Ollie or Chuck or Williams or Disney animation as a whole etc...it isn't very good stuff technically. But judging from shows like south park, aqua teen, home movies, etc, etc, etc, etc that doesn't mean much when trying to hit that demographic and that type of humor.

So I think you've done a pretty good job overall. I enjoyed the episodes, ended up watching all 5. You've put out a product that is entertaining and actually have something to show. I enjoyed your dialogue the most and your lip syncing isn't too shabby if you ask me. But if you are wanting a critique on your animation alone...you definitely have some work to do.

Nice little show you got there....I'd say to do more with the dialogue for sure, it's the strongest part of the show and how the characters interact verbally. With your opening segments, I liked the "grab my arm" part and some of the strong dude hitting the skeletons, but your dragon part and the part about all the different wizards were a miss IMO.

Keep it up man, and if you're looking to get better with your animation skills, definitely keep working at it and posting back here with some new stuff so we can critique it and help you get on the right track.

BTW I agree with this...the level of animation is definitely suitable...maybe put a tiny bit more into it...but it doesn't NEED more for this project.

But there's still nothing wrong with improving your personal skills overall, even if it doesn't apply to this certain thing :)

LOL,are you serious?Milt Kahl is known as one the the best ever by some, why would you compare the two? But as for the question of is it good animation, let me just say it works,I would not call it good or bad.

I completely agree with this, i enjoyed the exact same parts, and agree that those other bits didnt get a smile.

DSAzeppelin: Thanks for the crits. Its nice to know which stuff is working and which is not.

nick: Good to hear.

colus: Yeah, I guess my thread title might be misleading. I should maybe have said, "is this good storytelling?", or "is this funny animation?"...or "Is this the kind of animation that could be on TV?". That's a bit more in line with my intent.

Thank you all for your interest and responses. Its great to hear.

michaelmueller, I would like to say it reminds me of a "South Park" kind of feel just the mouth movements which are VERY on key. I would like to see some more "action" in your serious. Over all you have a great idea and I believe you should keep with it!

Yeah, if you are wanting to improve the actual animation, then I would drop the story and comedy and focus on doing animation exercises and practice body mechanics etc, and do more stuff with lots of action and use the characters bodies a bit more, rather than lots of eye acting.

But that is obviously not what you were going for...for what it was, I thought it was pretty funny, but I think the whole family guy/american dad thing could get old pretty quickly...it's been done before, and people could get tired of it unless it's quite different or exceptionally well done or something.

The acting was pretty good I thought, and the whole sarcastic family guy-esque thing shows you know somewhat how people act etc, and how to be funny - I did feel like the gags started to become a bit repeditive though - I think you could explore more active situations, where the characters are doing stuff, and not just standing around having stilted conversations...I can understand wanting to take the easy route to do less animation, but I find that's generally a bad idea, and if you just bite the bullet and try to do the tricky stuff, it might take a while, but it is well worth it.

Keep it up, it's funny stuff, it'll be good to see what you do next.

Hahahah!!
I think those are awesome.
Keep them coming.
I actually dont mind the animation. Sure it COULD be touched up here and there, but I like the simplicity. Plus, in my opinion, that helps with the humor of it.
Love it.

nice stuff!:)

even if you or someone feels the animation needs more work i think this will be sorted out if the series gets serious and gets a budget that allows for more animators or better animators.
The main thing is that i think the idea works:) and it feels like the show where thew idea counts rather then fancy animation...
:)
And this is not something new- look at south park, robot chicken...

Dude its funny, Ive posted a link so my class can see, but of course from a technical geezers point of view its not up to scratch with the look, but you shoudnt worry about that because youve certainly got your concept across and mabee how its done is part of its charm.

hahaha. these are funny! definately a SouthPark style of animation, which is limited in demonstrating the "12 principals." But the subtle gamer humor that is all over this series is fantastic! its not much in the field of animation but i was entertained! keep going man!
