Hi again,

when working on that image I have got inspired by the Rotring pencil I am drawing with sometimes. There are some minor faults in the model, but for an easy still life this seems okay for me.

I have done this work with 3ds max 4 on a P III 450 MHz with 512 MB RAM.

Any hints and tips?

Its a very simple subject but well executed. Personally I think it would be improved by improving the presentation perhaps a collection of the pencils in a transparent container with a blurred background and a nice dramatic camera angle and some nice lighting casting colour about the scene.

Nice modelling job it will be nice to see anything else you do with it.

Good idea, thanks. I will think about it.

Suggestions:
1) Stronger shadows

2) More dramatic / specific lighting

3) Better camera angle
[maybe the camera could be a little higher, pointing down on the pen]

nice work. sort out a nice composition though like said, the viewer feels way too close to the subject for comfort.

I personally don't like the table texture, looks fake, plasticy. Either make it really reflective varnished like, or bring it back more to a natural looking wood, bump map would help.
