This is the Machine concept I am working on. Still in the design/research phase to create something that will stand out and win the war ;). The basic idea is a massive mech for a mech. I'm having some trouble positioning the small mech so that the armored suit for the small mech may move. I think having the legs transfrom into the suit's chaps (for protection) may work.

I've come up with some new ideas. Once I thought about it, they were inspired by an Argentine 3d modeler. The machine, about the size of a city, will have an upper body (much like the image below) coupled with a huge ant-like abdomen. The abdomen will hold twin microwave cannons. Instead of legs, 'twil hover over the cities it consumes.

Here is a quick update. I started modeling the head last Sunday and hope to finish by next Sunday. My College, however, has been testing all this week and finals are next week (so cross your fingers). Texturing will commence next week as well ;).

The concept has taken a wide (but gentle) curve to have something a bit more "deviant." As you can see from the scan below, I have changed the legs for a hovering platform, added two giant side microwave cannons, and added a reactor core (the ball) on the back.

Do not fret if the model looks a bit bland, for I have started modeling with a very low resolution and then detail will be added when the major components have been created (to stay under the budget of 10K tris). Right now, it has about 1k tris in total. The only major parts to finish is the chest, abdomen, arms, and details. The position of objects may also need some work to balance it. Could anyone give me tips on a balanced character model?

That is it for now. Great work out there guys ;)

Hey guys; here's a quick update on the model. I've been working on the upper body (abdomen, arms, head, etc.) with the help of MS Paint and a few tutorials on modeling a torso (I ain't gots Zbrush :( ). What do you think for a first try?

This is the diagram made in MS Paint. The model has been modified a bit (no heavy armor yet):

Here is the 3d model and the wireframe model below:

The model needs a bit more definition on the arms. I'll show you the back soon. ;)

I finished the hands last Sunday. Below are the main components of the model. I will be adding some more detail (about 4500 tris so far) to the model, work on the chest armor, and add a bit of texture if time allows ;) Finals are this week :P

Interesting design there the last one. But somehow the small body sticking out in front like that seems very vulnerable to attacks, maybe can add some defense accessories or make the body bigger? Is it gonna have legs walking or just hover in the air? Keep it up man.

My first comment! :D Cool design AlienKing ;)

The machine will hover, I still have to add some of the details (like the ones in the drawings): wings, engines, etc.

Since it is a huge machine and I may have some polygons to spare, I will add air support as its cover or main body defense. The air support will extend from the machine like a cloud (sort of flying around it).

I finished modeling the machine Friday and most of the unwrapping as well. I'll be working on the textures, pedestal, rigging, and all the pretty details throughout this week (school is finito!). Thank God for the deadline extension!

This is the final model. Hovering ships have been added as protection, flags to denote team, and added aircraft details.
