View Full Version : 24jointSpine&Ribs
nelsonteixeira 07-13-2003, 08:08 AM I´ve made a 24jointSpine... but I´m not getting a good deformation of my skin. I tried to put a few ribs... looks better but not great. Should I make a rib per joint?? At least one for each thoracic one????

Hey,
I cant guarantee this, but 24 joints seems a little bit unnecessary. It almost seems like too many joints, for not much of a noticable difference. Especially in terms of skinning, if you are going to paint weights. To paint weights for 24 joints in a spine it's a bit hectic.
Anyway, This is just my opinion about the amount of joints. To answer your question about the ribs. You might want to try and combine the ribs that you have with some influence objects to get really good deformation. This way you can get an overall good effect with your joints and then clean it up with some inf objects that are driven by the rotation of certain joints.
Hope this helps!

having so many joints may be good for smooth motion, but you want to be careful not to include them in the skinning. Instead, you could have around 4 joints, each attached to a spine joint, that are used for skinning.
