ostov 07-12-2003, 11:56 PM I know this should be in the hardware section, but I think I will get more replys here.
I wanne use 3dsmax with two 17" screens and a geforce4200.
Does this work well on a Aopen VGA-Card Geforce 4 128MB 8X AGP TV-Out V-In DVI?? Will I get the right wires so I dont need to go to a store any buy more wires?

I was just given a GF4 FX 5200 AGP. Not sure how different this model is, but it works ok for my 2-monitor setup.
I have two CRTs, one is hooked to the DVI-out using a little DVI-to-VGA connector.
The biggest annoyance for me is that win2k does not recognize them as separate outputs, so I have to use nView, which spans the desktop across both monitors. This causes some problems where windows open in the middle between both monitors, cutting the windows in half. Task Manager, win logon, etc. Not a big issue, just annoying.
Other than that though it works OK.

We found a registry setting that allows you to span two monitors without nview. I will see if I can dig it up.

Make sure you check the box contents for that DVI to VGA connector. Some card manufacturers don't include them. You can get them from most computer supply stores and they are not very expensive. Just thought I might add that. It's a great card choice for max, though.

Lowdown, that would be great.

the newer Detonator drivers have "enable Dualview" in the desktop settings, but the older ones the dualview had to be changed manually inside of the registry. I don't recall the exact key, and it doesn't exsist on my machine (with the newest drivers). Maybe search your reg for "dualview" and change it from 0 to 1 - sorry I can't be more specific in my helping.

Ah... here it is. Will try it. Thanks for the heads-up!
