hey guys, i think i'm posting in the right section here. anyways, i am trying to make a collage portrait along the lines of this one right here:

i don't have a clue on how to start making these. is there a program for it? is it a script? are they made manually? any help would be great, just point me in the right direction b/c right now i am lost. thanks in advance...

Never done this before but I'd say try something like this:


Make a solid sketch of the portrait you wish to base your work upon.
If using reference for the base portrait sketch, use it also as a reference for the colors
Start searching for copyright free images that could fit a certain part of your portrait, add them on a new layer if they do fit in.(Trial and error)
remove the base sketch when done.(bottom layer)
looks like a tedious, time consuming job to me...
