Hello,

I’m a Modo 302 user and have a few questions on Messiah 4 and Modo.
I have noticed in the Modo to Messiah video that Messiah appears to have the same color and background schema, was that a mockup for the video?
In the same video Messiah can import/export a Lxo file. Does this mean that I will be able the import a camera or lights with their same position/rotation from either programs.

Could you please do a few more quick over view videos, demoing these new features on new hair tools/ Dynamics, Particle Collision Dynamics, New Bone Weighting Options, Translucency Scatter,
Cage Deformer, Improved Dynamics & Softbody.

Thanks.

Wegg

No. There IS a theme in Messiah that mimic's Modo's interface colors.

When I tested it. . . it just imports models. But it does support Modo's native morphs which is cool.

We are working on a bunch of videos. SetupTab has a bunch of free previews in its store that should give you an idea of what its like to use Messiah. Much more to come.

The deal ends when Fori decides to end it or give it some time limit. I would guess that you're at safe to buy it at that price for the month that the specified time limit ones have.

For all of you
The general list of new shiny stuff in v4:

*AutoRig2 - a really flexible, fast, editable autorigger

*Point Animation - Use sculpting techniques to animate your characters right on top of your normal rig!

*Improved Dynamics & Softbody - So fast it's realtime in many scenes, the improved collision detection is great.

*Keyframe Productivity Tools - Improved animation workflow, quick breakdown slider and much more.

*Rig scene referencing - Automatically propagate all the rig changes, to your animator's scene files!

*Pose System - Store and load poses with the click of a button

*Cage Deformer - this is the shits. volume preservation deformation

*Lattice Deformer - Regular lattice deformation

*Weight Painting - For those of you who absolutely want to paint those weights.

*New Bone Weighting Options - To help you use different ways of working with weights.

*Particle Collision Dynamics - Bang them into eachother.

*Better, Faster, Cleaner Global Illumination - Really good, really fast, really clean, really global

*Translucency Scatter - Lovely scattering of global illumination in translucency.

*Ultra-Super Improved Hair - Hair dynamics. long hair, you name it.

*Stereoscopic viewport - Animate your 3d.... in 3D!

*New Licensing System - Licence it to your thumb drive, your dongle, your chewing gum.

Updated mine !! Can't wait to put my hand on it.
Seems a lot of work done in this version. That's a big update and I am happy to pay for it, then don't worry please add more and more features. I am always glad to pay if you bring many features as you did for this version. (so version 5 for the end of the year ? :)

The point animation sounds like anisculpt from blender. I'm not sure how to use that though, since all of the tutorials are in spanish.

Any examples of each of these updates? Or is that a WIP for you?

Also did you guys increase the amount of developers working for the company.

That sounds like a great news.

I've got a question just that might sound "noob", but is there a problem running the Messiah-Pro-edition (native 64Bit version) under a 32 bit OS ? (window xp pro sp3, in my case )

And as Opera is wondering, what about Pointoven ?

That was 2 questions in fact ^^

Wegg
04-16-2009, 08:30 PM
When you buy the Pro version you get access to a 32bit install as well as the 64bit install. So all the features of the pro version are available to you but you are limited to the amount of memory your 32bit operating system can see. 3D applications really prefer a good 64bit OS.

They work WITH effectors. I wouldn't give those up for the world. They are fantastic for blocking out wide areas of control. This just allows you to fine tune their influence with a brush at the sacrifice of having to re-paint them when the point order of your mesh has changed. Just like what your used too.

Can the point-level animation be used to create joint-driven morphs (smartskins)?

Yes but the interface to make it as elegant as smartskin is still being worked on.

Ohhh.. I see. Well if we chose not to use them at all can we avoid them? If you recall (it has been a while back so I don't blame you if you don't), MetaEffectors were the primary reason I sold my MA. Are the weights stored in the objects? I guess changing the point-order is not a huge concern for me since I'll likely be transferring MDD data back and forth to Lightwave in my workflow. So I'll already be avoiding changes to point orders.

Yes but the interface to make it as elegant as smartskin is still being worked on.

Cool.. Looking forward to seeing how that turns out.

No. Thats lightwave think. :-) Nothing is stored on the objects. Not even materials and textures.

Sure if you want. There is a "volume" weight paint and a surface weight pant. Left click paints. . . right click erases. Its very intuitive.

Hi I'm an old Messiah user, but I never upgraded to Messiah3 so I haven't use it for a while.
What I most would like to see is the new Weight Painting tools! And I would also like to see more pipeline tips for Modo and Messiah; I know about MDD but is there a way to match the cameras if I only like to render a particle pass in Messiah? Will there be a demo to try soon?

Does modo read in .mot files from Lightwave? If so then you'd at least get camera's position from Messiah into Modo which you could use to match too/with. Then you could set up all the object in your scene to mask the particles and it would work great.

There will be a demo of 4 soon.

Well, there is a great community for help while they are working on new videos and things for the new features.

We all wanted it as soon as we could get our hands on it....so I am content to have it sooner to play with. And there are a number of videos at PMG's website for some of the new things. Plenty to play with right now.

Also, make sure you go to setuptab.com which is a dedicated messiah site which has a great deal of support for your questions. Some have been using the new features while in beta, so they can help with specifics till the new docs get out.

Still its been years now since the manuals have been LOOKED AT and for some who do not have 24 hr internet or working remorely, one shouldbe able to just up the docs and get the most basic of information.

On SETUP TAB they have a tutorials on how to use it but ..it comes at an additional cost which is not a problem but it chides against PMG leaving basic info on same said features of the product. Its kinda not fair. Its amazing 10 years ago, PMG started the whole robust docs and videos training and now they coome in last in support for docs.

wow. its been 10 years.

If you are a new user you will have to bind it to something. It can be anything that windows can mount. An SD card, a hard drive, a CDRom drive, USB Thumb drive etc. If your upgrading an older version of Messiah you will have to stick to using the hasp thumb drive.

The thumb drive is a great option. It's basically as permanent as a dongle. I'm really glad they included it. Normally hardware lock licenses are irritating, but a non-retracting USB stick is basically indestructible. You can just leave it in the computer, and it's still just as portable as a dongle.
