hi, this is my first try with a game character and this is what i get when i take the normal map out of zbrush. I can't figure out why it has those flat spots everywere, I used the zmapper and have tried changing pretty much all the options i could see. all the uvs are good and there isn't any wierd edge flow in those spots so I'm completely stumped. attachment.php?attachmentid=141113&stc=1

If any body knows how to fix this or what causes it I'd really like to know, thanks.

Your projection onto your low res mesh might be clipping, give it some more space by moving it out furthur so it doesnt clip. not sure if this is the problem, might be worth a look :curious:

inactionjackson,

In Zmapper there is a setting called "max ray distance" (not at my machine at the moment but im pretty sure thats it) Its under the "misc" tab. Try to turn that up a little bit, should fix those flat spots.

thanks, changing the max ray distance fixed it. i never thought to look in those other tabs i just assumed they were for something other than normal maps
