Hey guys, pretty new but looking to participate more. I'm in my 3d animation class with our final project coming up and i'm pretty close to setting up my scene but I wanted a few pointers.
This is clearly stylized as a cartoon. Its about an eskimo fishing who's love gets the best of him. Let me know what you guys think in terms of lighting, and props or if you have ideas about anything in general! I am trying to have darking shadows from the radiosity, and tips on that would be nice. I am still working on the scene's particles and a few misc polish things to toss around to help out those lonely hills in the back. Done using lightwave. Thanks guys, enjoy.

That hill in the background seems too symetrical....I think it's giving me the finger as well....

Personally, i think the hills should be removed entirely. This would help emphasize the animation more, which ultimately is the most important part.

danman: lol that's pretty i never thought about that :P
stuartb: I have been thinking about the need for the mountains or not and I think i'm going to get on some fog work to hide a little bit of the mountains but still keep a light presence. Here's a quick update. I have concerns about the shack so far, it appears to be a little bit of a distraction, thoughts? Also, the lamp is added because there will be a time change when the lamp with fire up!
Enjoy, thanks guys.

I like the scene set up so far. I can see what you mean about the shack. I think it needs a few more touches like nails and beams on the inside even warped boards on the top from snow damage. It will feel as though it was there for a while. Also, maybe snow on the top and bottom sides of the shack just to add to the presence of the scene. Do you have storyboards for your animation? If so I would like to see them.
Keep up the good work

I have animatic on the school network so I'll try and grab that to put it online.
So here's an update on the scene. I've gotten rid of the shack and whatnot...I see I like the scene to look more like a this is a "fishing hole" rather than his home area. Plus, i expanded on the hole to make it much more interesting, let me know guys thanks. Hopefully I'll have pictures of the eskimo coming soon! :)
Here are 2 screens of the shark who will eventually eat our little eskimo.
