View Full Version : Moving texture without moving mesh?

I am working on a cartoon bunny, and have just begun working on the eyes. The problem is, that the mesh for the eyes can't be spherical, but must be deformed in order to fit into the eyesockets. This eliminates the possibility of just rotating the eye in the socket.

So my question is - is there any way to move the eye texture around on the surface of the NURB, without touching the mesh at all? I am using this eye shader: http://highend3d.com/maya/downloads/shaders/bloodshotEye-2017.html

Here is a screenshot of the mesh so you can see what I mean:

just out of curiosity, how are you displaying the iris image onto the bunny's eye? if you are projecting the image file onto the object you can animate the texture placement node.

here's a texture of an eye moving on a polygon-sphere, i bet the same thing can be done on a nurb-sphere. the only thing that is moving is the texture placement node. one thing you would have to remember is that the texture placement node needs to be parallel with the object or it will cause the projected texture to warp.
