View Full Version : "PickleTown", Lighting......Crits welcome
woulfus 07-12-2003, 04:54 AM Here is a scene I recently did. I was trying to achieve a miniature set kynda feel and simultaneously make it seem painterly. I tried to push for it to be colorful yet not glaring. If there's anyway I could further improve the lighting on it, please do suggest. :)
All the colors, except for a few materials are a result of colored lights. My textures were limited to browns and greys, so I had to "paint" the scene with lights.

you have a nice warm morning feel in it.
but maye some nice shadows for the plants will help
also the trees look a littl plastic. aybe lower the specular and make them look dry.

Everything is equal in luminance which makes it hard to focus.
Personally, I would focus the lighting on the path and the houses.

Lighting on the background and distant hills is fine. On the foreground it's too frontal, you should slide the key to the left and render with shadows. Also, you'll need some bounce light coming from a low angle, to avoid the black edge on the bottom of tree branches that's developing now.

if you want to achieve more of a "miniature" feel, try adding some DOF to your scene.
