View Full Version : what to do with this goblin?
puddlefish 05-07-2002, 10:45 AM Good to see this forum here! :)
Alright, to get he ball rolling, here's a goblin I did for the March challenge.
I'm wondering where to take him next. I want to animate him, but I'd kinda like to colour him manually, without texturing. That means colouring every three frames like they do when colourising films. This way I think I can achieve a more unusual look, kind of similar to the colour renders on my original thread:

Glad to hear suggestions about animation / situation.

For convenience sake, here's the coloured renders. Each one only took about two or three minutes to colour the goblin himself.

Well the character looks really cool. As for suggestions to texture and animate him, let me think:
Hand colouring wil certainly look unique, but I must see a clip before I pass judgement. Maybe you can use the multi-pass functions to automate this. You could even try using soem form of noise patterns in SLA to creat varing colour values

well now I see the look your are going for and I have an idea on how to achieve that rough textures pastel/coloured pencil look. I will look into something for SOC 1.0. I'll keep you updated but it will have to wait a week or so.
do you have any animtions to show as an example of how it will lokk animted. (I assume you want something like bill plympton's boiling watercolour/coloured pencil look.

Kaiskai: Thanks for the mail. The sketchy look I was thinking of in my other post is actually more like my concept drawings. A kind of Sepia Duotone drawing.
No animation tests yet, but soon!

Im sure you can do it pretty easily.....all you need to do is find a suitable cell shader, and render in black and white, and composite the black cell outline over a paper background....I believe highend3d.com has a tutorial for this in Maya, but it seems very easy to do in any program.
