View Full Version : can't delete glow effect
Jacobo 07-12-2003, 03:16 AM Hello again;
My question this time is about the glow effect. When I apply a glow effect on an object it comes up on the output shader stack of the partition that specific object belongs to. But it also comes up in every other pass as they are created and I can't delete the glow effect. It just seems to stick in there... I tried deleting it from the pass settings panel on the output shaders tab, but as soon as the region refreshes it pops up again... But strange enough, when I look under the object in the explorer, there is no glow effect there, but glow is rendered around the object...
any help appreciated...

Edit: Try this command first:
Replace sphere with your object name. dglow is the default name of a glow property. If you make a mistake then, undo :)
DeleteObj "sphere.dglow"
In the Explorer, it should be about 2 nodes down in the heirachy under your object. Make sure your explorer scope is set to All Nodes. Unless you have a really nested heirachy, then it would be pretty deep in the tree.
You might have to dig for it in your schematic view or write a script to find it and delete it. In most cases deleting it from the Explorer should work.
FYI This is a good example as to apply the glow on a partition level. I would create a partition for my glow objects, select the partition and choose get->property->glow. The nice thing is, at any time you can add/remove objects from this partition, duplicate this partition for another pass, make this partition non-renderable etc.
Good Luck

The thing is that in your case the glow is a shader attached to an object, not a pass or a partition. However, it is listed in the shader list of the pass. This is why you see it in all passes.
Deleting it in the pass will not remove the glow. You have to delete it from the object.
As Rick pointed out, using partitions to apply glows and similar properties will save you this trouble.

I'll pay more heed to that... Thanx a lot again for your help. I appreciate it :)
